Heritage Folk Art Day

This event is held annually in April. A date for 2025 will be announced soon.

Folk Art, Folk Life Connects the Past to the Present

As many as 600 children and their teachers have participated in our Annual Heritage Folk Art Day. This educational experience was created as part of the Folk Art Preservation Project and is available for second graders in Rusk and surrounding counties.

The folk art selected each year is designed to enhance the student curriculum by allowing the youth to see the skills used by our forefathers firsthand.

Southwest Dairy Farmers give a presentation on “Milk, from Cows to Kids.”  Featured skills demonstrated are spinning, weaving, printing with our old printing press, rope making, corn shelling, broom making, dulcimer music, and even a ride on the carousel.

This event is held in April. Use the form below to request a reservation.

Tenaska Gateway Partners, Ltd. has been a continued sponsor for this event.
