Susan Weaver
(1944-2017)
Over the years a great number of people have aided in making the Depot Museum what it is today, and deep appreciation is expressed to each individual.
We continue to honor our friend, our mentor, and the first director of the museum, Susan Weaver. Her dedication and ability as an artist gave her the knowledge to design each and every exhibit throughout the museum.
Today, her continued inspiration and experience make it possible for us to carry on our mission to educate the public about the rich history of Rusk County. A county historical marker honoring her service and dedication is installed on the grounds of the center.
Jim White
Much of the content for this website was based on the work of Jim White, who produced a Depot Museum souvenir booklet in 2013. After living in several states, Jim White made Henderson his home in 1982. Jim married Ramona Brightwell, and they had two children, Corey and Chris. After retiring from the Henderson Fire Department with the rank of captain in 2009, Jim was the assistant director of the Depot Museum. During his time off from museum duties, Jim enjoyed giving overnight tours on the Battleship Texas, traveling, model railroading, and writing in his restored 1949 MKT caboose.
